Art Consultation

My Walls
After settling into our own four walls in the early 2000's, our first art pieces were framed concert posters. Three decades later, my home is an eclectic mix filled with many of the concert posters from those days, along with others I have collected in more recent years. This Phish poster is from 2005, and the Head & The Heart is from 2016.

Along the way, I began adding in original art. This little bird by local artist, Mr. Hooper, was one of my first, and the father and children swimming is a recent piece by Omari Booker.

The Only Thing To Fear Is The Imposter Syndrome!
What can get in the way of people and art is a false belief that, in order to be an art collector, one needs credentials like unlimited funds and a deep understanding of art, its history, icons, and styles. To me, the art I collect is a path to greater understanding and acceptance of myself. The treasures in my home reflect my inner world, reminding me of who I am and what is important to me. There are many reasons to have art on your walls; the best art connects us to what is meaningful in our lives, and that is unique to each person.

Follow Your Heart
My goal in consulting seasoned collectors, first-time buyers, and everyone in between is to help them follow their hearts. Finding the right art for your walls can take time, but when you discover the right piece, you will know it. When I found this blue bird at Gaslamp, I knew it was meant for me, and I hurried home to find its perfect spot.
Go Big & Go Home
I love the smaller, unexpected pieces like this, but when you finally come upon the biggest and most cherished pieces of art for your home, it's different than a sofa or mattress that you will replace. Instead of looking worn and tired, it will look as good as it did the day you hung it and possibly be worth more decades later.

So, in my opinion, spend less on what comes and goes, and consider the value of art over a lifetime, and through generations. It will follow you from room to room, and home to home. If you follow your heart when buying art, I promise it will follow you, too.

Big or small, or in between, I love connecting art to art lovers. I work with individuals as well as businesses and have a network of galleries, curators, and installers who can help us along the way. If you want to talk art today, email jessie@artbeatnashville.com or call 615-854-7570.
