Nashville's Union Station, painted in plein air from the patio of the Frist Art Museum, located next door. Both of these iconic landmarks have been repurposed. Nashville’s distinctive post office was constructed in 1933-34 in the architectural styles of the period: “starved” or “stripped” classicism and art deco and it became the Frist Art Museum in 2001. The Union Station Nashville Yards began construction in 1898 and was opened as a luxury hotel in in 1986.
